Pearson 323, Hull #296, built in 1981, currently named XtaSea

Purchased by the current owner in the fall of 2019 as a “project” boat by a retired engineer, long-time sailor, boat builder & restorer, who lived in RI near the Pearson factory, sailed many of their boats, and was impressed by their reliable design and construction.  XtaSea underwent extensive repair and retrofit through 2020 and was relaunched in the summer of 2021.

Major Repairs:

  • Chainplates: remove, inspect passivate, reinstall with new cover plates
  • Deck: remove wet balsa core near several stanchions and chainplates, repair and refinish
  • Backing blocks: replace backing blocks beneath stanchions with more substantial ones
  • Relocated stanchions at entry thru stern pulpit
  • Stern light: relocate from behind the boarding ladder (new light)
  • Electrical: relocated all wiring that was in the bilge, and relocate sound system
  • Plumbing: replace many hoses and fresh water valves, replaced illegal and poorly designed holding tank installation with a portable toilet
  • Mast: rewiring including new steaming, deck, & LED anchor lights

  • Replaced primary winches with Harken two-speed self tailing models
